I am writing to express my concerns about including animal-based foods, such as meat and dairy products, in patient meals. While I understand the hospital’s commitment to providing adequate nutrition to support recovery, I believe it is essential to reconsider the impact these foods may have on long-term health.

Recent scientific studies have demonstrated the potentially harmful effects of excessive meat and dairy consumption, including increased risks of cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, certain cancers, and other chronic conditions. As a healthcare institution dedicated to the well-being and recovery of patients, the food choices must align to promote sustained health.

Well-planned vegan and vegetarian diets meet all nutritional needs and offer proven benefits in preventing and managing various diseases. Introducing nutritious plant-based options rich in fiber, antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals could be a significant step toward more holistic and preventative care, inspiring a healthier future for our patients.

Please consider including more plant-based options on its menu and reevaluate animal products' role in patients' diets. Above all, a health-promoting hospital should provide foods that help prevent disease, not exacerbate it.

Sincerely,

Wagner Carvalho
